Time for a New Guitar Template

Did you know you can subscribe to free email or RSS alerts of new articles?

Now that I have appropriate tools on hand (such as my new Dewalt Router) and spent some time learning more about woodworking, I’ve started looking over my Klein guitar template with a more critical eye.

I’ve found a couple of problem areas. One is in the upper bout area where I sanded the curve of the bout a bit too flat. The second one is in the lower bout area where it sits on the leg - I took off a bit too much in one section. Its not terribly obvious but its worth the experience to make another one and shoot for a bit higher quality.

With that in mind, I’m looking to make another go of it this weekend. Hopefully, this one will be the one and I can begin the process of making the guitar body…

  1. I am fascinated by your project and am desperately trying to find a routing template for the transtrem… Any info?

    Thanks so much!

Please note that I did not use a Trans-Trem bridge. I used an R-trem bridge - a significantly different beast. And, while I’m not aware of a Trans-Trem template that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. :)

Did anyone ever find a routing template for the Transtrem?
I, too, am searching hard for this!
